1855 Capital is a seed and early stage venture capital fund investing in companies with an affinity to Penn State University. The firm develops investment opportunities by actively engaging with current faculty/staff and students involved in world-class research efforts and the 700,000+ alumni network. Sectors of interest include information technology, advanced materials, healthcare/medical devices. The fund will actively leverage the business acumen and management talent of the Penn State Alumni network and the Funds' limited partners. The 1855 Capital Fund is a $10 million fund that provides seed and early stage venture capital to Penn State affiliated startups. Individual investment size will typically range from $100K to $500K. The 1855 Capital Qualified Opportunity Fund will invest in companies located in Qualified Opportunity Zones -- a low-income census tract certified by the U.S. Treasury -- predominantly, if not exclusively, in Pennsylvania. This fund will invest in both early and late stage equity financing, and when possible, will invest alongside 1855 Capital Fund 1 and other strategically identified Funds. While 1855 Capital has strong ties to the Penn State community -- local and global -- 1855 Capital is a privately owned and operated company and is not directly affiliated with Penn State.
