Alara Capital launched its first venture fund, Guggenheim Technology Ventures I (GTV1), in 2008 while operating as Guggenheim Venture Partners (GVP). Since then, GTV1 has made investments in nine technology companies and is performing well. In 2011, Alara spun-out of Guggenheim into a new private equity and venture capital firm unaffiliated with Guggenheim. Today, Alara Capital continues to manage GTV1, a fund in which Guggenheim is one of the largest limited partners. Alara Capital is a technology investment firm that focuses on undercapitalized technology companies, with practices in distressed venture capital, early stage ventures, technology spin-outs, growth equity and activist investing in small capitalization public technology companies. Alara works with start-ups that develop and deploy products and solutions for various technology industries. Alara Capital's growth equity team is interested in companies operating in the information technology, clean tech, semiconductors, networking, telecommunications, defense and media industries.
