Formed in late 1996 as part of a transition of Burr, Egan Deleage & Co., Alta Equity Partners (fomerly Alta Communications) has over 20 years of experience in the media, telecommunications and Internet industries, and has participated in more than 150 rounds of funding with over 100 portfolio companies. With approximately $1.5 billion in capital under management, including Alta IX its current $500 million fund, Alta typically makes investments of between $2 to $20 million per company. Alta invests in companies at all stages of development and the typical investment commitment is 5-8 years. The firm typically considers later-stage opportunities with positive cash flow, but will consider earlier-stage investments to fund businesses seeking growth capital. Investment structures include: recapitalizations, leveraged buyouts, growth equity investments, and roll-ups.
