Launched in 2011, American Express (AMEX) Ventures is the corporate venture arm of American Express Co. AMEX Ventures looks for start-ups and later-stage companies in the areas of commerce, data and analytics, digital marketing, and financial planning. According to published reports, to date, the firm has made more than 15 investments. Notable investments include Bill.com Inc., which automates billing for small businesses; ShopRunner Inc., which provides membership services for online shoppers and is considering an IPO; and Radius Intelligence Inc., which aggregates data on small businesses to generate leads. AMEX Ventures has over 80 investments with 27 exits.
