The Automation Alley Technology Center brings together businesses, educators and government to help entrepreneurs accelerate the commercialization of new technologies and services. The heart of the Technology Center's commercialization services is the technology business accelerator, developed in 2003. The Alley consists of a process, programs, services and limited capital investment to take promising, innovative technologies from concept to market. Through the accelerator, the expertise of top consultants and executives is available to qualified companies and individual entrepreneurs who otherwise could not afford it. Accelerator clients receive business counseling and training, access to service provider networks, marketing, collaboration, promotion opportunities, and mentoring. The Technology Center will invest pre-seed and seed capital into resident companies. To date, Automation Alley has invested $7.46 million in 33 companies or projects across Southeast Michigan.
