Avista Investments was founded by Harry Tsao in 2009. The firm invests primarily in three categories: Internet - the vast majority of the investments are internet startups; Sports - both sports and eSports teams; and Food Tech - with a focus on technology and infrastructure that can disrupt the traditional food industry. Harry Tsao was a founder of MeziMedia, which was sold to ValueClick for $300 million. He was also an early employee at GoTo.com, which was sold to Yahoo! Avista also makes investments in Blockchain Technologies, and started investing in cryptocurrencies in 2013. Tsao and his wife Carol Chen made a multi-million dollar donation to Cambridge University in the UK.
