BR Venture Fund (BRV) is Cornell's early stage venture capital fund. Operated entirely by a team of MBA students, BRV typically invests between $50,000 and $250,000 in U.S.-based high growth companies across all industries. Over its lifetime, BRV will invest up to $10,000,000 in business entities, most of which will be sourced through the extended Cornell community. BRV is funded by donations to the University and returns are used to create a growing pool of investment capital and build the endowment. Affiliated with BR Ventures is the BR Incubator (BRI), a student-run consulting agency founded in 2002; BR Legal, the legal arm offered in conjunction with the Cornell Law School; and BR MicroCapital, a business advising and lending service for local entrepreneurs. BRV also sponsors The Cornell Venture Challenge, a Business Plan competition where students pitch new business ideas to a panel of professional investors and can earn up to $25,000.
