Founded in early 2003, Banyan Venture Partners looks for two to four new companies a year, based on where they believe their experience and management approach will help business owners and investors drive 2 to 4 times top line growth over 3 to 5 years. New ventures generally fall into one of three categories: partial buyouts of a business owner with an interest in bringing on a new chief executive to drive growth; full buyouts of business owners ready to retire from a business with stable cash flows and opportunities for growth; carving out joint venture opportunities with mid-sized to larger companies to launch a new product or develop a new market. Where growth capital or financing for recapitalization is needed, Banyan Ventures facilitates each deal separately with various capital partners and deal structures. Typical investments range from $500,000 to $2,000,000, and deals are sourced directly from business owners, private equity funds who pass on opportunities that are too small for their investment thesis, and angel investors looking for a management partner. In general, the companies Banyan Ventures partners with or acquires are located in or near Salt Lake City with revenues less than $10 million, and are at an inflection point in their development.
