Black Point Corporation is a privately owned entity of the heirs of P. Shaw Sprague who use it to manage their common interests. The primary tie that binds the 3rd, 4th and 5th generation of the family is its ownership of properties in Cape Elizabeth and Scarborough, Maine assembled by Phineas W. Sprague in the early years of the twentieth century. P.W. Sprague, a native of Malden, Massachusetts, was a successful coal and oil businessman, developing C.H. Sprague & Son. Entities associated with Black Point Corporation, The Sprague Corporation and the family that are described on this site include, Ram Island Farm, Black Point Resource Management LLC (dba Scarborough Beach State Park ), Spurwink Farm and The Phineas W. Sprague Memorial Foundation. The Phineas W. Sprague Memorial Foundation is an independent, private foundation that makes grants to assist charitable and non-profit organizations that have personal relevance to Sprague family members.
