Boldcap Ventures is a venture capital fund focused on investing in early to mid-stage companies, primarily in the healthcare and technology sectors. The investor base is comprised exclusively of highly accomplished professional women based in the NY area. The firm meets quarterly with its 40 individual investors, who play a supporting role in sourcing and evaluating investments for the fund and most importantly in adding value to the group's portfolio companies. By leveraging the talent, experience and contacts of the group's investor network, Boldcap opens doors for its portfolio companies and provides them with strategic support. The firm typically invests together with other venture capital funds in financings of $5-$15 million for companies seeking growth capital to fund operations or acquisitions. Although it is not a requirement, Boldcap expects that many of its investments will be in companies that are managed by women or whose products or services target women. Unlike traditional venture funds that need 20 to 25% ownership requirements, the ideal ownership equity is approximately 5-7%, after the seed round.
