Brightstone Capital was formed in 1985 as a venture capital investment management company. Since inception, Brightstone Capital has managed 10 venture capital funds and made investments in over 80 early stage Minnesota businesses. The firm's current investment focus is on high technology and medical technology companies involved in the following industries: Semiconductor & Optical Component design, test and handling; Software from single applications to enterprise-wide systems; Data Storage Software and Systems; Biotechnology Systems and Production; and Medical Technologies and Health Care Services. The firm typically invests a minimum of $1 million and, over time, up to a maximum of $4 million, into any single portfolio business. Brightstone will also consider smaller investments for seed and start-up companies with experienced management teams and well-developed business plans. The firm prefers to work with Minnesota-based companies. The firm currently manages a $100 million venture fund.
