The Broad Family Office serves the legacy of philanthropist and businessman Eli Broad, who made his fortune first in home construction, and then in life insurance. The firm looks to grow its capital in order to support the Eli and Edythe Broad Foundation, which invests in and awards grants to companies and people in education, science and the arts. It also funds a wide variety of nonprofits and foundations in Los Angeles. Eli Broad Family Office has an appetite for private equity funds, including impact funds and emerging manager funds. It does a limited number of direct venture capital deals, but will make private equity investments into companies of $4 million to $10 million. It also invests directly in real estate. According to Forbes, Edythe Broad is worth approximately $7 billion.
