The mission of the Catalytic Impact Foundation is to accelerate innovations in life sciences and healthcare, funding companies that address unmet medical needs. By employing the discipline of traditional venture capital, the foundation invests philanthropic capital to support companies with transformative, life-sustaining technologies. Catalytic focuses its investments in areas where the need is great, but funding is weak: 1. Children's Health, 2. Brain and Mental Health, 3. Women's Health, 4. Rare Diseases, 5. Health Equity, and 6. Aging. The Catalytic Impact Foundation believes that diversity drives innovation, and innovation suffers when 50 percent of the population struggles to access capital. The foundation actively looks for, and invests in, women-led companies with transformative technologies addressing unmet healthcare needs. Most of CIF's investments are in the pre-seed or seed stage (55%), with another 33% in Series A. CIF only makes equity investments (not grants), and is open to all traditional financing structures, including convertible notes, SAFE notes, or equity.
