Founded in 2002, Cequel III is an investment and management firm based in St. Louis, Missouri, and focused on growth-oriented companies in technology, communications, and business services. Cequel III seeks to make middle-market and growth-equity investments in companies that operate in expanding, sustainable industries, with recurring revenue models and a diligent focus on customer service. Cequel serves as the Family Office for Jerry Kent and Howard Wood, formerly executives with Charter Communications. Kent is a recognized entrepreneur and trailblazer in the telecommunications and technology industries. In addition to his role as Chairman and CEO of Cequel III, which he co-founded in January 2002, he serves as Chairman and CEO of TierPoint. Previously, the Cequel III team built AAT Communications into the largest privately owned cell tower company in the United States before selling that enterprise in 2006. Cequel III and Jerry also managed Suddenlink Communications, building it into the seventh largest U.S. cable company with operating results among the best in its industry before it was sold to Altice Group in 2015 for an enterprise value of $9.1 billion. Howard Wood co-founded Cequel III, LLC, in January 2002, after resigning his position from the Board of Directors of Charter Communications, Inc., which he also helped found. Prior to forming Charter Communications, Mr. Wood was president and chief executive officer of Cencom Cable Associates, Inc. From 1961 to 1987, Mr. Wood was with Arthur Andersen & Co.
