Founded in 2008, Clean Energy Venture Group is an Angel investment group focused on providing early stage capital and strategic management expertise to emerging clean energy technology companies. While the firm's focus is in the Northeast United States, the group has worked with companies throughout the country. The group is comprised of prominent energy and environmental professionals including Ralph Earle III, Managing Director of Assabet Group; Daniel Goldman, currently EVP and CFO of GreatPoint Energy and previously co-founder of New Energy Capital; and David Miller, Ph.D., Executive Managing Director of CEVG, and previously Director in the New Ventures Group at Lucent Technologies. They have invested in over 60 companies through over 80 rounds of investment, with 14 partners and 4 affiliate members. CEVG usually invests in the first institutional investment round of their portfolio companies, and though the investment amount per round is almost always under $1M, those companies typically raise additional funds in subsequent rounds. Others have made equity investments of over $350M in their portfolio companies, in addition to over $100M of non-dilutive loans and grants.
