Cleveland Clinic Innovations commercializes all inventions and related capabilities throughout Cleveland Clinic. Its comprehensive approach includes prototyping, seed and product development funds, clinical trials, translational research cores, animal facilities, on-site accelerator, executives-in-residence, allied venture capital, expert staff, venture advisors, start-up mentoring programs, selective in-licensing and ideation labs. Cleveland Clinic Innovations leverages the innovative capacity of Cleveland Clinic that started with its founding and continues today with more than 200 new inventions per year. CCI facilitates innovation, creates spin-off companies, licenses technology, secures resources and establishes strategic collaborations with corporate partners. Twenty-four companies have been spun-off this decade, most of them with significant equity investment. The Cleveland Clinic Innovation Center is part of Cleveland Clinic Innovations. It offers business and administrative support to Cleveland Clinic spin-offs and equity partner companies, as well as state-of-the-art physical resources to ensure the success of business start-ups. The CCIC was established in the spring of 2004. Established in 2010, the Clinic's Global Cardiovascular Innovation Center is a 50,000 square foot facility that houses the GCIC's incubator/accelerator program. GCIC has formally evaluated over 230 technologies and provided funding totaling $24.6M for development of 60 innovative cardiovascular products.
