CDVCA is the network for the rapidly growing field of community development venture capital (CDVC) investing. CDVC funds provide equity capital to businesses in underinvested markets, seeking market-rate financial returns, as well as the creation of good jobs, wealth, and entrepreneurial capacity. Community Development Venture Capital (CDVC) funds make equity investments in businesses in economically distressed areas in the United States and around the world. They invest in companies in a variety of industries and at different stages of development, from seed to expansion. CDVCA also manages its own investment vehicle, the Central Fund, which currently has $6 million under management. The Fund specializes in identifying areas with untapped market potential, investing in rapidly growing businesses across diverse industries. The Fund is available to make two types of investments: Fund of Funds investments and Co-investment Fund investments. Both types of investments have a minimum size of $250,000. CDVCA was formed in 1993 and incorporated as a not-for-profit in 1995. CDVCA has invested in over 250 companies and created over 30,000 jobs across the Continental United States and Puerto Rico.
