Core Innovation Capital only invests in financial technology companies that provide consumer finance products targeting the un- and underbanked consumer markets. This includes payments solutions, credit solutions, and savings and investment instruments for the underbanked. The firm is interested in both customer-facing products and services, as well as business-to-business solutions within its underbanked focus. Core seeks early growth stage investment opportunities, targeting companies with a strong management team in place, a completed product with some market validation and one or two initial reference accounts. Core is focused on companies that serve people based in the United States. The firm will make its initial investments up to $10 million and seeks to reserve adequate capital to remain an active partner through a company's growth. As a 'double-bottom line' fund, Core seeks excellent financial returns as well as the ability to create a positive social impact on the lives of the underbanked. Core screens all of its investments for their ability to deliver both short- and long-term value for low-income consumers.
