Founded in September 2006, the Dakota Venture Group (DVG) is a University of North Dakota, student run venture capital investment fund. DVG is one of only a few student managed venture capital funds in the United States. The investment strategy of DVG includes making investments in high-growth ventures started by entrepreneurs in Minnesota and North Dakota. DVG also has a priority to invest in companies started by UND students and alumni. All investments are made with the goal of fostering statewide economic growth. DVG currently has a non-profit 'evergreen fund' fueled by benefactors and is currently in the process of starting a for-profit fund which will produce returns for DVG investors. Harvest Fund Partners, LLC was organized in July 2009 as a new venture between the DVG, Inc. and Evergreen Investment Management (EIM). DVG, Inc. is a North Dakota 501(c)(3) non-profit organization started by the members of the Dakota Venture Group at the University of North Dakota. DVG, Inc.'s Board of Directors consists of a self perpetuating group of students with experience managing the Dakota Venture Group's Innovation Fund, a $400,000 angel capital fund. Over the past six years more than 60 DVG student members have screened over 150 companies and made 13 investments. Harvest Fund I spans over 15 companies and has seen a return of 20% on company valuations.
