David Cohen is the founder and CEO of TechStars, a mentorship-driven seed stage investment program for Internet startups. Previously, David was a founder of several software and web technology companies. He was the founder and CTO of Pinpoint Technologies, which was acquired by ZOLL Medical Corporation (NASDAQ: ZOLL) in 1999. Cohen is actively investing in early stage web/software companies through a $5M fund that was originally announced in May of 2009. The fund plans to invest in approximately 20 startups over a five year period, investing between $50K and $200K per company, with a typical 'bite size' being $100K. Cohen is currently investing in early stage web/software companies through the third Techstars Venture Fund (150M). Techstars is investing in approximately 500 companies per year globally as of the start of 2022.
