The goal of the Dominion Energy Innovation Center (founded in 2009), is to provide start-ups and second-stage companies with mentoring, engaged guidance, and business support services so that these ventures will become financially successful, high-growth companies in the community. The Center offers virtual or physical tenancy along with an array of staff expertise, business advisory boards, affordable rents, and a complete offering of support services plus networking and educational programs. The Center also offers the Tech Challenge Hanover, a rigorous, start-up competition for emerging and second-stage, technology or knowledge-based entrepreneurs who are looking for assistance in moving their ideas from concept to market and commercialization. Through this annual competition, participants can hone their ideas, get constructive and invaluable input from business professionals, and compete to win the coveted $10,000 first place prize plus free tenancy.
