Founded in 2006 (as Northwest Energy Angels), E8 is a membership organization of successful entrepreneurs, retired executives, and other business leaders in the Pacific Northwest who provide investment capital, strategic advice and mentoring to early-stage companies or companies embarking on major expansion efforts to help them achieve market leadership. The Northwest Energy Angels is unique in that it focuses only on the energy industry, including alternative sources of energy, improved distribution, or efficient transmission. Funds are not pooled; each member makes her/his own investment decisions but shares due diligence duties. Since 2006, E8, a 501(c)(6) membership organization, has facilitated more than $40M in investment in 98 companies across the US and Canada. The group announced 2022 investment activity of $8.79 million in 34 companies. E8 targets companies with a reasonable valuation (generally $750K to $1.5M for seed stage companies, $1M - $7M for early-stage).
