Founded in 2006 as the Northwest Energy Angels, Element 8 was the first angel group in the United States to focus exclusively on clean technology and sustainability. In 2013, Element 8 members invested more than $40 million in a total of 98 companies. The sole investment focus for the group is early-stage cleantech companies whose innovations will increase the sustainability and health of the planet. The screening committee currently approves between 24 and 32 companies each year to present.
