Expa was founded in 2013 by Garrett Camp to build companies. Camp founded the internet site Stumple Upon, as well as the mobile car service app Uber. Expa's goal is to develop new products, systems and services, and forms teams to scale them as independent entities. With Expa, Camp expects to invest in companies with a focus on making mobile apps around media, location, data analytics, smartphones, and sensors. Expa Labs is a 6 month program that gives founders $500,000 in capital and a suite of benefits, in exchange for a 20% equity stake, to help first time entrepreneurs develop their company. Expa Labs is a 180-day program in San Francisco and New York created for early-stage entrepreneurs. New companies will be funded to form their team, build their product, and launch. Expa companies have reached $8B in value and have raised over $1B in funding.
