Fjord Ventures, LLC was founded in 2005 and is committed to providing strategic vision and operating experience to emerging life science companies. Fjord is a technology accelerator that partners with entrepreneurs at an early stage and maximize each company's likelihood for success. The Laguna Hills, CA facility houses a number of Fjord Companies which utilize shared services including administration, accounting, IT and legal as well as facilities such as conference rooms. The Fjord facilities include a number of dedicated labs and office space. With the companies that use these spaces, Fjord Ventures finances early proof of concept development and due diligence efforts and provides operating expense support. These companies must successfully progress through this evaluation phase prior to potential investment by the Fund. Fjord also engages in buyouts of assets or companies with promising technologies, but with failed execution or lack of investor support. Fjord targets company exits earlier than traditional venture capital. Fjord companies typically exit prior to initiating commercialization activities that are performed more efficiently by the large corporate buyer. The firm's portfolio is managed by Fjord's seasoned team, which has over 50 years of combined operating experience.
