Foley & Lardner, a major national law firm, launched Foley Ventures, a $4 million venture capital fund exclusively investing in, or with, Foley clients. The Foley venture fund was designed to make the investment process simple. For venture funds, Foley invests $200,000 side-by-side with the fund's investment in a portfolio company, so long as the fund meets the following key requirements: the fund is a client and the portfolio company is projected to have adequate cash flow after the investment for at least one year. For startups or emerging companies, Foley will invest $200,000 if the startup meets the following key requirements: they are a client; the company receives a simultaneous investment from a professionally managed venture fund; and Foley's investment, together with the venture fund's investment, is projected to provide adequate cash flow for at least one year. When the investment is made by an angel fund, Foley Ventures may invest $100,000, subject to similar requirements as above. The firm has 21 offices across the United States as well as one each in Mexico City, Brussels, and Tokyo. Foley Ventures Fund ll launched in 2013 to actively invest in both portfolio company and debt and equity fund clients, with 30 investments to date. Foley Ventures Fund lll launched in spring 2015 and is currently seeking investments.
