Greylock Partners is a private venture capital firm, founded in Boston in 1965, with committed capital of $3.5 billion under management. The firm is currently investing out of Greylock XIII, a $575 million fund, which invests internationally, including Europe, India, China, and Israel. Over the past 40 years, the firm has provided equity capital and support to more than 300 developing companies. The firm focuses on early-stage/first outside-capital investments in the areas of Consumer technology and Internet, Enterprise information technology, Communications and select other opportunities. Over 175 of Greylock's companies have gone on to become publicly held, while nearly 130 have successfully merged with other leading companies. The firm recently announced the formation of the $20 million Greylock Discovery Fund, a seed investment program that helps very early stage companies raise small amounts of money in a short amount of time. Led by LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman, investments from the Greylock Discovery Fund typically will be as small as $50,000 and as large as $500,000. For early stage investments, Greylock typically invests $1 million to $10 million. The firm also makes growth investments through Greylock Growth, which is targeted at breakout enterprise and consumer software companies. Greylock Growth invests tens of millions of dollars at a time in each investment.
