Grindstone Partners was formed in 2009 by Michael Bluestein to make private equity investments. The firm was created to address the lack of capital available to small and mid cap companies. The dislocation that occurred in the capital markets in 2008 and 2009 significantly reduced the liquidity for smaller businesses. Grindstone and its network of investors make equity investments in growth capital and buyout transactions. Investment sizes range from $2 million up to $20 million. Grindstone invests its own capital and the capital of its limited partner funds, family offices and individuals. The firm targets companies with $5 to $100 million in annual revenue.
