The Harvard Business School Alumni Angels Association (HBS Angels) started in 2007 as a special interest group of the HBS Alumni Association of Northern California. Similar groups formed around the world and HBS Angels became a global alumni organization in December 2010. Today, the HBS Angels organization is comprised of Harvard alumni interested in investing in high-potential early stage companies. HBS Angels is open to all Harvard alumni and others affiliated with the university, not just HBS graduates. The HBS Angels invest in early stage companies across all industry sectors including Business Products and Services; IT Services; Clean Technology; Internet / Web Services; Consumer Products and Services; Media and Entertainment; Electronics / Instrumentation; Medical Devices and Equipment; Gaming; Mobile; Healthcare Services; and Software. Ideal candidates are companies seeking $100,000 to $750,000. HBS Angels members invest as individuals, in aggregate up to $350,000 in any particular investment. Ideally, for global syndication a company should meet the following requirements: Local host chapter members committed to invest at least $50,000; Company assures at least $50,000-100,000 investible capacity; Company provides at least 2 weeks for due diligence following the webinar, prior to requiring an investment decision; Accepted minimum individual investment amount is set at $25,000 or less. HBS Alumni Angels have invested in over 400 companies with $95 million invested.
