Healthbox has a dual mission to empower healthcare entrepreneurs while serving as a catalyst of change by exposing the industry to new and innovative solutions. Healthbox is a platform to stimulate early-stage innovation, enabling entrepreneurial success while creating a collaborative global ecosystem to build positive change in the healthcare industry. Healthbox launched in Chicago in January 2012 with an inaugural class of ten startups from around the United States and Ireland. For three months, these companies shared space and ideas in Chicago, where they developed their business models and products, created relationships throughout the industry and closed deals with new customers. Each company selected receives $50,000 to $250,000 in seed capital, access to a mentor network of industry experts, collaborative workspace and strategic guidance. With operations in Boston, Chicago, Florida, Nashville and London, the entrepreneurs selected to participate in one of Healthbox's 16-week programs receive structured, customized support designed to address the challenges unique to starting a business in healthcare. Over 100 investments have been made (67 still active, 18 exits).
