Founded in 2004, Highlander Partners is an investment firm that typically invests in small to mid-size private companies with sales of $10 to $500 million. The firm has more than $600 million in capital under management, over $900 million of which is allocated to direct private equity and mezzanine investments in the United States and Central Europe. In 2008, Highlander opened an office in Warsaw, Poland, which is responsible for making investments in Central Europe. Although the firm makes investments in several industries, its main focuses are in healthcare, food products, basic materials, consumer products, and manufacturing companies. Highlander's typical investment size is between $10 million and $75 million in the US; however, the firm is able to underwrite larger transactions that require up to $100 million of equity under the right circumstances. Highlander's typical investment size is between $10 million and $50 million in Central Europe. For mezzanine financing, its typical investment size is between $10 and $25 million. Since its founding, the firm has completed over 90 majority control transactions in eight countries throughout North America and Europe for transaction values exceeding $5.0 billion, as well as direct minority investments throughout Asia.
