Since March 2000, the Hub Angels have reviewed nearly 2,000 early stage technology companies. During that time, the group evolved from an organized club with 15 individuals to one based on limited partners investing through angel funds. Currently there are more than 200 members across the 6 funds, managing a portfolio of 50 companies. Since 2000, Hub and its members have invested more than $40 million in a broad range of sectors including mobile/media, internet/web services, life sciences, biotechnology, retail and software as a service. Venture firms that have co-invested in Hub's companies include: GE Capital, Flagship, Thomas Weisel, Fidelity, Bessemer, Commonwealth Capital, Intel Capital, Rock Maple, Brook Partners, and Blue Chip. The current Hub Fund IV invests in seed and early stage companies in the New England States, and principally in the Boston area. The Fund has a preference for investing in Series A rounds, but will consider other investment vehicles. The Fund will typically invest $250,000 to $750,000 as a base investment, with co-investment rights of its members typically providing at least an additional $250,000. A fund reserve of 50% is used for follow-on investments in the group's portfolio companies.
