Founded in 1970, Impact Seven is an Economic Development Organization. Impact Seven is also a certified Community Development Financial Institution, manages several Small Business Administration (SBA) and U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) loan programs, provides venture capital, and is part-owner of a community development bank. Impact Seven's Business Development Department offers a variety of loans and venture capital for growing Wisconsin businesses through its four major financing programs. Impact Seven offers low cost deals and flexible terms. Depending on the strength of the project, Impact Seven can create direct financing packages from $1,000 to $1 million plus. Over its history, Impact Seven has invested more than $100 million in thousands of businesses, helping to create well over 15,000 jobs. Impact Seven has been able to capitalize a Venture Capital Fund from its own retained earnings, investment income, and other sources, with a mission to foster growth and innovation. Impact Seven's Venture Capital Fund is one of the few such funds in Wisconsin, and although the amount of money available varies depending on Impact Seven's activities, the fund typically injects from $10,000 to more than $5 million into growing businesses. Due to the higher risk involved, this fund is used for projects through which Impact Seven will obtain a quality return, which is typically at least 25%, with a five year exit strategy. Impact Seven is one of the largest non-profit developers of affordable housing in Wisconsin, the only state-wide Certified Housing Development Organization (CHDO) in Wisconsin and manages over 1,500 units, most of which they own.
