The Institute for Venture Science (IVS) will fund high-risk, non-traditional scientific inquiries that may produce fundamental breakthroughs. IVS identifies the most promising challenges to prevailing paradigms and simultaneously funds multiple research groups worldwide for each selected challenge. The Institute operates on a $1B per year budget, drawn from a permanent endowment. The IVS community represents a combined total of more than 1,000 years of experience in fundamental science ranging across universities, corporations, and governments, in both private and public sectors.
