The Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation (formerly the Great Lakes Corridor of Opportunity) was organized in 1992 to foster encourage, promote, assist or otherwise aid economic growth and development in the Iowa counties of Clay and Dickinson. In late 2005, Emmet County became a part of the region and in January 2006, Buena Vista County joined the region. Iowa Lakes Capital, LLC is a for-profit, community-based seed capital fund established in the Iowa Lakes Corridor region in October 2006. More than 20 investors established the fund with over $1.35 million available for seed capital investment. The fund is open to investment opportunities any where in Iowa, with an emphasis on Buena Vista, Clay, Dickinson, and Emmet Counties. The fund is seeking equity opportunities in all types of businesses that are in advanced manufacturing, biosciences or information solutions including seed, early stage, start-ups, turnarounds, expansions and owner transitions. The Corridor currently receives funding from over 80 public- and private-sector organizations. The total annual budget is approximately $700,000.
