The Leach Family Office is a firm specializing in capital investments and complex real estate transactions. The Leach (Licht) family is one of the oldest industrial families in Rhode Island, a pioneer in the conversion of industrial mill space into manufacturing incubator space for fledgling industrial start-ups in the 1930s. Throughout the 20th century, Leach started and operated one of the largest and well recognized used manufacturing machinery companies in the Northeast, H. Leach Machinery Co.; a family chain manufacturing business, National Chain Co.; and family metals business, A.J. Oster Co., which would later be purchased by the Cookson Group PLC of England. Leach specializes in the ground-up development of big box freestanding and anchored retail centers. Leach is and has been the landlord to, among others, major retailers including Wal-Mart, Lowes Home Improvement, The Home Depot, Stop & Shop Supermarkets, Shaw's Supermarkets. The firm primarily assumes an activist role, while also providing structures for expanding, underperforming, and acquired businesses including debt and equity, asset-based vehicles, turn-around capital and management, reorganization / buyout / recapitalization, among other complex financing structures.
