Lightchain Capital is the family office of Rodger Riney. Riney was the Founder and former CEO of discount brokerage firm Scottrade. According to Forbes, Riney is worth $3.5B. In the year after selling Scottrade, Riney donated $131 million to various causes. Riney actively supports non-profit organizations, including the Alzheimer's Association, the Humane Society of the United States, and the Salvation Army. Riney suffers from multiple myeloma and in 2017, he donated $5 million to fund research on the disease. In 2018, he donated $20 million to the Washington University School of Medicine. Lightchain's venture capital fund focuses investments on early-stage life sciences companies looking to improve people's outcomes with cancer.
