Long Island High Technology Incubator was founded as part of Stony Brook University and University Medical Center. The Long Island High Technology Incubator (LIHTI) is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping new technologically-innovative companies to grow by providing them with a variety of support resources and services. Since its opening in 1992, the Incubator has been associated with more than 120 businesses, and over 60 companies have graduated successfully from the LIHTI program, contributing over $2.5B to the national economy and creating jobs for over 500 employees. A 2003 study by the National Business Incubation Association ranked LIHTI as the number one mixed-technology incubator in the U.S. The facility features 60 suites, 62,000/sf total space--the majority with windows. A total of 61 companies associated with LIHTI and our partner incubators have received generous benefits from our funding agency, Empire State Development (ESD) managed by NYSTAR.
