The Louisiana Emerging Technology Center (LETC) was designed specifically as an incubator for companies with wet-lab needs and serves small and start-up businesses developing and commercializing university technologies. The 64,000 square foot facility opened in 2005 and focuses on the biotechnology, life sciences, agricultural and environmental industries. Beyond lab and office space, tenants receive business and technical assistance such as access to funding sources, legal resource and professional consulting, administrative staff and services, plus the ambiance of an established company. The LSU System Research and Technology Foundation is the parent entity of the LETC. The Foundation is backed by a broad array of government, business, and academic leaders throughout Louisiana and with their support, the Foundation developed Louisiana Fund I (see profile), an early stage venture fund for new and emerging technology companies.
