MassMutual Ventures Holding (MMV Holding) is the corporate venture capital holding company of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual). MMV Holding manages US$450M through MassMutual Ventures, a US $300M Boston MA-based team investing in North America, Europe and Israel, and MassMutual Ventures SEA, a US $150M Singapore-based team investing across Southeast Asia. Both teams invest in early- and growth-stage companies in the financial technology, cybersecurity, enterprise software, and digital health sectors. MMV Holding is also a significant investor in Crane Venture Partners, a London-based venture capital firm focused on early-stage enterprise start-ups in Europe. MMV Holding also has a strategic partnership with Crane. MassMutual ventures recently launched a new $5 million Springfield Venture Fund (SVF) to invest in high potential startups in Springfield, MA. SVF seeks to make investments of $500k to $5 million over the next five years in startups that have a defined product or service, are no more than three years old, have well-defined scalable business plans and high growth potential. In addition to the Springfield Fund, MassMutual will invest more than $1.5 million over the next three years to support the creation of a startup Accelerator by Valley Venture Mentors (VVM), an entrepreneur-mentoring network in Springfield which will manage the program, and DevelopSpringfield, a non-profit organization dedicated to driving development in Springfield. MM Catalyst Fund (MMCF) will target a dual-prong approach to creating impact on the entrepreneurial environment in Massachusetts: 1) enabling the growth of technology and sustainability driven business in less-developed regions of the commonwealth and 2) driving growth and capital for business expansion into financially underserved Black businesses. Catalyst includes $25 million to target investments in Massachusetts-based technology and sustainability-focused companies located outside Boston; and $25 million to target investments in Black-owned, founded, or managed businesses across Massachusetts. The firm's First Fund Initiative is focused on funds led by Black, Latinx and Indigenous fund managers with a differentiated investment thesis to generate positive social impact and financial returns. Since 2021, MassMutual has invested in seven funds led by diverse, first-time fund managers across the United States through the First Fund Initiative -- including its most recent investments in Impact America Fund, a venture fund that backs early-stage companies increasing the economic power of marginalized communities, and L'Attitude Ventures, a venture fund that exclusively invests in Latino-owned, early-stage companies with high-growth potential. Over 40 companies have been invested in in the US and Israel since 2014.
