Matchstick Ventures (formerly known as Confluence Capital) is a new fund that will continue to focus on investing in early-stage tech founders and their companies. Matchstick is proudly based in the Twin Cities and will continue to invest in MN tech startups that have a product and a customer. It will also target other strategic markets that have strong startup communities including Boulder/Denver, Chicago, Austin, and Kansas City. Confluence Capital was created in 2013 with a vision 'to bring a fresh investment approach that is desperately needed in the Midwest. No suits & ties. No chest puffing. Just honest early-stage investments in awesome entrepreneurs.' The fund made 14 investments and had one 1 exit. The Matchstick Ventures name more closely aligns with the firm's mission of acting as a catalyst for founders, startups, and the MN startup community. The firm has 400+ of the most successful entrepreneurs, operators and corporate partners in their ecosystems as friends, mentors and investors in their fund. The firm invests $500k - $1.5M in pre-seed and seed-stage startups.
