Founded in 1976, Menlo Ventures is a venture capital firm specializing in investments in early stage, expansion capital, and seed stage companies. The firm also seeks to invest in pre-IPO stages of a company. Menlo prefers to invest in companies engaged in the connected software and services; software; communications; internet; semiconductor; financial technology; infrastructure; datacenter technologies; application software; mobile software; handset technology; and information technology sector with a focus on areas including internet infrastructure; data storage; consumer related internet sites; and computer hardware sectors. Menlo invests in companies headquartered anywhere in the U.S. Menlo will not consider companies that are based in life sciences, health care, e-commerce, consumer goods, or retail. It typically invests up to $20 million or more at the late stage and can also invest above $30 million in some opportunities. Menlo currently has over $6 billion under management. The firm is currently investing in Menlo Ventures XIV, a $450 million early-stage fund, as well as its $500 million Inflection Fund, which targets early-growth investments. Menlo announced (November 2023) it raised $1.35 billion in new capital that will be invested by Menlo's flagship venture fund Menlo XVI and Menlo Inflection III. The firm has over 165 mergers and acquisitions.
