Monument Capital Partners is an Indianapolis-based private equity firm that manages our family of funds. Monument focuses on taking control stakes with existing and/or new management teams in a distinct segment of the lower middle market. We purchase manufacturing, value added distribution and industrial service businesses located primarily in the Midwest with valuations of between $5 and $20 million. The partners manage Monument Capital Partners 2, L.P., a $22.5 million private equity fund raised in 2000, investing the fund in increments from $1 million to $3 million in the equity portion of management-led and other leveraged acquisitions. The firm also makes follow-on investments in its portfolio companies to support additional acquisitions and expansion. Monument Capital Partners 1 makes mezzanine oriented investments (sub-debt with warrants) of $750,000 to $2 million. Monument invests in situations requiring $3 to $8 million in capital. Although Monument believes there is competition for equity investments of less than $10 million, many funds in the major metropolitan areas tend to focus on larger investments that are sourced from intermediaries.
