Mountaineer Capital provides venture capital to promising new and existing businesses located in West Virginia and surrounding states. The firm is licensed as a Small Business Investment Company (SBIC) by the U.S. Small Business Administration. Mountaineer focuses on providing the first level of professional funding for early stage companies. The firm can also assist in the funding of expansions and special buyout situations. Initial investments are expected to range between $250,000 and $1 million and be structured as straight equity, or more generally a debt security with equity warrants and options. Mountaineer Capital primarily looks for technology-oriented or position-advantaged companies with the potential to achieve annual revenues of at least $10 to $20 million, on a profitable basis within three to five years. The firm does not invest directly in real estate, natural resource development, consulting, or personal service companies. To date, Mountaineer Capital's twelve portfolio companies collectively total nearly $15 MM invested by Mountaineer Capital, representing over three hundred employees generating over $40MM in annual revenues.
