Murphree Venture Partners is a seed and early-stage venture capital firm making direct equity investments into emerging entrepreneurial enterprises, primarily in the South and Southwestern U.S. Murphree invests in Business-to-business software; E-commerce; Semi-conductors; Photonics; Life Sciences; Medical Devices; Telecommunications and Energy Technologies. In addition to these focus areas, Murphree Venture Partners invests in selected low-tech and non-tech endeavors traditional to its geographic area. In June 2001, after searching for a venture capital firm to manage their CAPCO investments, Prudential Insurance and John Hancock Insurance chose Murphree Venture Partners as their CAPCO fund manager. The firm targets companies currently achieving $3 million to $30 million in revenue per year, have attained or are approaching profitability, and are seeking $2 million to $10 million in capital. Murphree's principals have made over 85 venture investments since the firm's inception.
