The Najafi Companies is an entrepreneurially driven private investment firm founded by Jahm Najafi in 2002. Najafi worked for Salomon Brothers before he served as CEO of Pivotal Private Equity and partner and COO of the parent company, The Pivotal Group, which he ran with his brother, Francis Najafi. Pivotal focused on the purchase of commercial properties, such as The Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles, Alameda, California-based Harbor Bay and 650 California Street in San Francisco. Najafi was a founding partner of Social Venture Partners, a philanthropic venture capital fund. Najafi Companies makes investments across industries with significant holdings in consumer, retail, ecommerce, sports, media, and technology. The firm makes highly-selective investments up to $1 billion in transaction value in companies with strong management teams across a variety of industries, and often in industries out of popular favor. Najafi funds investments with internally generated capital, not through a fund. The firm typically acquires controlling ownership interests in established businesses across the globe with strong management teams generating positive cash flows.
