New Atlantic Ventures (NAV), formerly Draper Atlantic, is an early-stage information technology venture capital fund based in Northern Virginia and Cambridge, Massachusetts. From 1999 to 2006, Draper Atlantic and DFJ New England invested $180 million in 59 companies with investment returns in the top ten percent of all venture funds. The firms joined forces in 2006 to create New Atlantic Ventures, a venture capital firm with a past and present portfolio of companies that generated over $1 billion of revenue in 2011. Capital under management is currently $230 million. The firm's current fund (raised 2008), New Atlantic Ventures Fund III, has $117 million. The firm focuses on businesses in high-growth, emerging mass markets. Within high-growth emerging mass markets, NAV focuses on four main sectors: Mobile, New Media, Online Services and Breakthrough Technologies. It looks for a combination of great teams, big markets, big ideas and proprietary technology. Most of its initial investments range from $250,000 to $3 million for first rounds. NAV continues to support its portfolio companies with additional funds alongside other co-investors as companies make progress.
