The New Orleans Startup Fund is a nonprofit venture fund focused on business creation and innovation in the 10-parish Greater New Orleans region. The Fund exists to accelerate the growth of early-stage, pre-revenue companies looking for proof-of-concept capital. The operations of The Startup Fund are housed within GNO, Inc., the economic development organization for Greater New Orleans. The strategy consulting firm Elstrott, Maurer & Hunnewell, LLC (EMH) is assisting in the vetting process and providing technical portfolio support. The Startup Fund invests between $25,000 and $100,000 per company. Applicants must be headquartered and committed to creating jobs in Greater New Orleans' 10-parish region. Entrepreneurs must demonstrate that they have high-potential business models or ideas that are capable of attracting significant funding from private investors. The fund does not limit the sectors it will consider. The Startup Fund has already secured funding commitments in excess of $5M, from a combination of private and public sources and has a full pipeline of companies, across multiple sectors that are in need of funding support in order to grow.
