New Venture Partners, LLC is a seed and early-stage venture capital firm with a focus on creating communications and information technology startups that leverage corporate innovations. The firm actively manages over $700 million in venture capital. The New Venture Partners team has worked together since 1997 when the partners founded the New Ventures Group (NVG) at Lucent Technologies. In 2001, the team formed New Venture Partners as an independent firm to manage the NVG portfolio. At the same time the group acquired its portfolio from Lucent, it raised a new fund from a syndicate of investors led by Coller Capital, a UK-based private equity firm. In March 2003, New Venture entered into an exclusive relationship with British Telecom to create new ventures from its R&D, professional and computing services unit, BT Exact. The firm's latest fund, NV Partners IV, LP closed in September 2006 at $300 million. The group has additional offices in California, The Netherlands, and the U.K. The New Venture Partners team has founded and funded more than 60 technology ventures from the R&D labs and business units of global technology corporations including Lucent/Bell Labs, British Telecom, Philips, Agere, Boeing, Intel, Telstra, Avago, and others. Historically, the firm has focused on innovations in information technologies, including: networking and communications; software and services; optical and semiconductor components; hardware and systems.
