Administered by Empire State Development, New York Ventures meets the critical capital needs of New York State's innovation economy by providing funding to high-growth startups as they move from concept to commercialization, through early growth and expansion. New York Ventures administers the State's innovation investment funds, providing equity investment capital to early-stage technology-based businesses through direct investments and fund-of-funds. New York Ventures actively looks to fill funding gaps in key, but underserved, industries and regions. The firm supports companies emerging from NY State universities, research labs, incubators and accelerators--but will consider companies willing to relocate to New York. New York Ventures administers more than $90 million in capital allocated toward direct equity investments into promising startups. The direct investment program focuses on Series A investments, but will selectively consider seed rounds. The New York Ventures fund-of-funds investment programs are typically targeted at specific investment stages, industry sectors or founder groups, and are administered by third-party investment managers selected on a competitive basis. With an additional $150 billion investment in the nation's largest infrastructure program, they are building the new New York with major investments in airports, roads and bridges around the state. New York Ventures is actively deploying over $300 million of capital through equity programs for both direct and indirect investment. In 2022, New York was awarded funds via the U.S. Department of Treasury State Small Business Credit Initiative.
